Here I am, ranting about the idiocy of Twilight.

Twilight, Twilight, Twilight - it’s been the new raving and craving of teenagers (and adults) since the book debuted in 2005. Written by Stephenie Meyer, Twilight is a romantic/vampire book told in the first person view of Isabella “Bella” Swan, who is an average 17 year old girl. (But of course she’s merely average!)

“Bella,” as she prefers to be called, moves to Forks, Washington, and meets a rather peculiar boy (or older man, I should say, hehe) named Edward Cullen. To Bella, he happens to be the perfect Adonis with - you know - the “well-chiseled chest,” the “perfectly muscular body,” and that gorgeous, sharp angular jaw we girls love to dream about. Obviously, Bella finds Edward extremely attractive and mysterious, and she begins her quest to find out his deep, dark, hidden secret!

Obviously, Edward turns out to be a vampire - a vegetarian vampire, that is (he eats animals, not humans). During the first few chapters of the book, he is so deeply attracted to Bella that he avoids her to prevent himself from munching on her oh-so-innocent, porcelain, and fragile skin.

Text from the book:

“So,” I said after a moment, finally meeting his anxious gaze. “What’s your favorite?”
He raised an eyebrow and the corners of his mouth turned down in disapproval. “Mountain lion.”

LULZ.

Not to mention the overuse of adjectives:

Edward in the sunlight was shocking. I couldn’t get used to it, though I’d been staring at him all afternoon. His skin, white despite the faint flush from yesterday’s hunting trip, literally sparkled, like thousands of tiny diamonds were embedded in the surface. He lay perfectly still in the grass, his shirt open over his sculpted, incandescent chest, his scintillating arms bare. His glistening, pale lavender lids were shut, though of course he didn’t sleep. A perfect statue, carved in some unknown stone, smooth like marble, glittering like crystal.

And WHEN does a 17 year old girl ever talk like that? Keep in mind, this book was written from Bella’s point of view.

The main problem I have with this book is the main character Bella Swan. An extremely shallow and insecure being, she is immediately besotted with this “mysterious” man and wants to know who he is and what his secrets are. Of course, it can’t be sex that Edward wants from her, because they’re not allowed to have it! And sex is so subtly ignored in this book, and it’s annoying. I kept waiting for Edward and Bella to have something like this:

*not actual text from the book
Edward’s beautiful, well-chiseled chest faces my average looking body. “What is it Edward? Are you okay?” I slowly, timidly reach for his cold but perfect hand.

His intense eyes, a color I cannot fathom, stare back into my dull eyes. “My blood is rushing down my body. You must help me get this over with, or I may eat you and turn you into a horrible vampire.” He groans something I cannot understand.

My heart desperately sinks for him. I cannot stand the pain he is possibly going through. I’ve never felt such pain as he has. “Oh, Edward!” I squeal.

Suddenly, his large, cold, perfect hands lunge after my body. I gasp at the feel of his adroitly wonderful hands touching my body.

“Oh, Edward!” Electricity flows through my veins.

“We mustn’t do this! I’m a horrible vampire.” His face presses against my chest.

Slowly, his sharp, dense teeth sink into my fragile skin….

Umm…I think I did a good job imitating Stephenie Meyer?

As demonstrated, Bella is retarded and AN INSULT TO ALL THINGS AWESOMELY FEMALE. She is the stereotypical love sick female and needs to die. It makes me angry that Bella gave up her aspiration to attend college, get a job, and everything in between, to freaking marry and make vampire babies with this freak Edward. Oh, by the way, Edward is a creepy S-T-A-L-K-E-R. He is a manipulative crack in a half and basically has NO personality. (Yeah, Bella did such a great job describing him as nothing but perfect!)

I cannot believe the utter crap that people read today. I bought Twilight thinking it would be a really awesome book (seriously, I had no previous bias) because everyone was talking about it. And, boy, was I proved wrong! …I also learned a very awesome and concrete lesson that people are stupid. Popularity is stupid. (Which, of course, I realized before I read this book. But now I realize it even more.)

Not only that, Stephenie Meyer MARY SUED this ENTIRE book. NOT EVEN KIDDING! That kid Jacob Black is based off of her husband; Bella is OBVIOUSLY based off of herself; and Edward - God, I don’t even know - the stereotypical, mysterious, perfect, adroitly sexual man we females would all love to have.

Also, I have a theory to why so many children my age are obsessed with these books:
1. It reads like “starter porn.” Because not many kids have read erotica, they find Twilight rather seductive in such a subtle way. Of course, they don’t realize that they’re getting into a d/s fantasy with Edward. But, that’s okay.

Oh, by the way, the worst part of all: at the end of the series, Bella decides to abandon everything she is and lets Edward eat her to become a vampire. They then, *quotes from the book*, “…we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever.”

Screw Twilight. Screw Stephenie Meyer. You insult me.

Just a quick post here - Google Chrome is - well - likable. I love the fact that it’s fast, each tab runs under separate processes, and just little things I notice while browsing under Google Chrome. However, the new browser was released nearly 24 days ago (September 1, 2008), and it indeed has its bugs and kinks it needs to work out. I want smooth scroll, the ‘STANDARD’ ability to scroll with my mouse wheel clicked down, and more customizations under advanced options. Oh, I also want an easier access to bookmarks, which is the reason I currently have FireFox set as my default browser (you know, quick access to bookmarks).

As much as I love to flaunt FireFox, I will admit that FireFox 3 has been giving me problems. It seems as though I want to love the browser, yet the browser does not want to love me. I will not be an obnoxious and impossible fangirl, so I am willing to try other browsers (just not Internet Explorer =] ).

I’m quite tired now, but, hopefully, tomorrow I’ll post a nice wishlist with screenshots and everything of my Google Chrome Wishlist! I think the browser has potential to become such a better browser. And you know, it’s Goooooooogle we’re talking about. :)

Burn After Reading is about a woman named Linda Litzke (Francis McDormand) who wants plastic surgery. She is so desperate for this plastic surgery and “extreme maker/new self” that she will do anything for that surgery, considering she cannot afford it. (Really, anything.) She and her co-worker, Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt), come across a disc containing confidential information on an ex-CIA agent, Osborne Cox (John Malkovich), who was recently fired. Katie Cox (Tilda Swinton), Osborn’s wife, is having an affair with Harry Pfarrer (George Clooney) and needs that disc in order to divorce her husband. Meanwhile, Linda and Chad desperately try to sell the disc thinking they will make a large amount of money for it. Random occurences and dark twists with a twisted sense of humor follows.

This movie was made by people with a cynical sense of humor; this movie was made for people with a cynical sense of humor. With the awesome cast in this movie, I was expecting a serious movie with some type of intelligent plot; this movie is not that. This movie contains gruesome yet slapstick violence, humorous dialogue, a ludicrous plot with absolutely random (random, random, random) twists.

That being said, I enjoyed the movie and laughed at scenes that were supposed to be funny, however, those who laughed would be considered horrible people. I had fun watching a man beaten to death with a hammer, and I indulged in the circle of affairs these characters partook (not to mention, George Clooney’s “ingeniously built” chair). I especially enjoyed Tilda Swinton’s bitchy but cheap remarks and the fact she was a pediatrician (seriously, lol for real). However, I could not stand Linda Litzke (Francis McDormand) - I found her annoying, shallow (though, all characters in the movie were quite shallow), and - uh - loose (but weren’t they all? :]) I was hoping she would die. Brad Pitt played an idiot; John Malcovich played an angst-ridden man; and George Clooney played a man-whore.

If you’re looking for cynical laughs (seriously, cynical), then watch the movie and laugh your ass away while you repeat to yourself, “I’m a terrible person!” Just don’t watch the movie and expect an awesome amount of awesomeness. There are betters movies out there.

My second Xbox failed on me simply because the dashboard would freeze any time I turned on the Xbox. Yes, I still have the 20GB, although I’m hoping this one will last me more than a year.

This past week, I’ve purchased Halo 3, Soul Calibur IV, and Madden NFL 09. I haven’t indulged into either games to post a review, although I’ll do that soon before this week goes out.

I also received a new blue 8GB IPod Nano in the mail today. You know what I did with that? I immediately added Joss Whedon’s Doctor Horrible episodes. I really recommend my readers to give Doctor Horrible a try (and, please, give Doctor Horrible a try!) - it’s an excellent short series that will bring both laughs and sorrow.

<rant> You know what pisses me off? (And keep in mind, I don’t even like the guy.) The media is giving such flack about Barrack Obama admitting he used drugs during high school.

Um…first of all - weren’t we all horribly confused teenagers back then?

Second of all, it was high school. Whether I agree or disagree with Obama’s political views, I actually admire the fact he admitted he used drugs - he can be an inspiration to people who currently use drugs in high school and have them realize they can be more than what they are now. That it is possible to rise above the influence and become an important figure in history.

And to balance this out - there would obviously be a problem if Obama continued to use drugs to this day. But because he rose above the influence and became what he is today (whether one considers him a liar or not, one must admit that he is an important person), he does not deserve to be put down because he did drugs during high school.

Seriously, people. If you’re going to complain about Obama, don’t shit about his high school past. That’s just lame.

Oh - another thing - it annoys the crap out of me that people are accusing him (as if it is a bad thing) of being Muslim. So what if he is Muslim? Last time I checked the documents, America is a free country and you can be a part of any religion you want.

Also, I’m sick of people giving McCain flack because he is old. Seriously, America, WTF? You’re giving these people flack because of their high school past, age, and religious affiliation? Oh, please!</rant>

Yes, I’ve changed my layout yet again. Hopefully, I will stick with this one. The last layout I had was too grainy and blurry for my tastes. This one is much more simplistic and cleaner, which I like…a lot.

Traffic for EmmaFrostFiles.com has been bouncing up and down the walls lately (which, I suppose is a good thing seeing how I get at least 200 hits/day). I’ve installed Akismet to block incoming spam, though.

Also, Google Analytics? It’s awesome and much more reliable than what CPanel offers. And I don’t care what the snooty-I-pay-for-my-own-trafficking-stats-people think about Google Analytics.

WordPress’ natural SEO is also amazing - it helps a lot with traffic.

That is all.

I wasn’t exactly a sucker for Batman Begins. I thought the movie was good, however, I wasn’t as thrilled as everyone else was. But The Dark Knight is a different story. The plot of The Dark Knight kept rolling and rolling - it had me at the edge of my seat each time the unpredictable Joker planned some thing new - or, really, “it’s all part of the plan.”

Compared to all superhero movies of the past, The Dark Knight easily takes the award for best superhero movie ever. This movie was not just a big budget action flick with plenty of blow up action - it was rich: rich in idealism, rich in hope and false hope, rich in spirit - to sum it all up, rich in depth. The fact that the three men, Lt. Gordon, Batman, and Harvey Dent, were all so desperate to rid the city of its criminals is motivating but heartbreaking. Heartbreaking because the endless amounts of criminals rusted into the roots of Gotham City is discouraging. Each time the three guys try they lose lives and their own people.

The Joker lives and breathes chaos and misanthropy. He is so misanthropic he craves that each person he tortures will have an absolute burning hatred for people as well. He lusts for their bad sides and flourishes in their own pain and torture - he loves it. It’s sadistic, it’s gruesome, but it also left me with a feeling of sympathy for the Joker. One must have gone through a very painful life to have the mind of the Joker. The Joker strives people to prove himself right through their own actions and choices. In fact throughout the movie, in my opinion, the Joker was usually right about people - about their actions, their choices, and what they really believed in.

Both Bruce Wayne/Batman and Harvey Dent, as Adrian thoughtfully mentioned, both go through major changes within the movie. Batman had to disengage from his ethics in order to do what needed to be done. Harvey Dent, who was a good man inside, disengaged from his ethics as well - but not in order to do what needed to be done. He did it out of rage, revenge, anger, which killed his true character .

The people of Gotham City truly believed in Harvey Dent and that it was possible to rid the city of its criminal warlords. They believed in change, they wanted change, they needed change, and they were ready for change. Throughout the movie, Batman and Joker argued over the good and evil of people. The Joker continuously proved himself right that people were snakes and could not be trusted throughout most of the movie. In a sense the Joker vs Batman was not only a physical fight between the two but also a fight between idealism and their own philosophies.

Why I mention the people of Gotham is because of the most rewarding scene of the movie. The fact that it was not only Harvey Dent, Batman, nor Lt. Gordon who proved the Joker’s idealism was wrong but it was a joint group of regular citizens vs criminals who proved the Joker’s misanthropic idealism was wrong. The Joker’s facial expression of when he realized what the people did not do, or for lack of better term, did do, was defeat. I saw it. I’m sure you did too.

Everyone’s performance in this movie was excellent. Christian Bale as Batman was far more convincing than he was in Batman Begins, which was an obvious improvement. I fell in love with Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent. Heath Ledger’s performance as Joker was damn right through and through. Scary, sadistic, his lip movements - I somehow loved the way his lips moved and the way he smacked his lips. Just amazing. I also loved Maggie Gyllenhall as Rachel Dawes much more than I did Katie Holmes.

I would really have nothing to complain about except for one small opinion that the movie was just a bit overwhelming at times. The consistent criminal chasing and “why are they going after him” questions I had were frustrating for me at times. There were also many characters to deal with - had I not had knowledge of Batman characters in the past, I would have been extremely confused and entirely overwhelmed throughout the movie.

Nevertheless, every sentenced I summed up of Batman made up for its overwhelming feeling. Had they taken some thing out of the movie, it would have felt all too some-thing-is-missing feeling. Perfect. Just one perfect movie. This is the future of what a comic book movie should be. 5/5

I bought XBox 360, along with GTA IV, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, and Top Spin 3. I’ve been having a helluva time on Live, so I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my 360. Now, let’s wait for the rrod. =] (Although, I actually bought a TurboCooler to prevent the rrod.)

So, anyways, I had an awesome time at WWC with my boyfriend. Without my boyfriend, I would have never been able to purchase all these sketches, prints, and comics. Now, here’s for the photoshoot you’ve all been waiting for:

Woohoo. Summer break is officially here. I’m generally satisfied with my report card this semester, although I swung and missed with one subject…I passed…but I had a horrible final grade. But I passed. I passed…phew. I won’t have to take that subject anymore…ever again.

I’ve been spending all day and night preparing WordPress and making customizations for emmafrostfiles.com. Trust me, everyone, everything is going to turn out really awesome in the end. I’m really excited for the final outcome of the design and coding structure (thank you, WordPress). Yeah, it’ll be awesome.

Also, Twitter.com lags a lot, which in turn slows up my load time for my blog. I think it’s time for a Twitter alternative.

My thoughts on Giant Size AXM, etc., etc. - all coming soon in the near future. I’ve just been busy.
